One of the new features in iOS 4.1 in the introduction of HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography for iPhone 4 users. With HDR option enabled in Camera app, you can take more detailed photos than what a normal photograph can show or capture. This feature basically takes three photos in quick succession, one properly exposed, one overexposed and one underexposed, and then combines all three to produce one single detailed photograph.
As it stands today, our smartphones do just about everything we would want from a computer. They browse the internetz, take stunning images, send/receive emails, show us high-def videos, give us turn-by-frickin-turn voice-guided visual directions, check today’s special sex position (cause there’s an app for that!) and tons more shit that, if I start recalling, would take an eternity or two or document.
A new Cydia app by the name of Gridlock has been released which enables iPhone and iPod touch users to freely position icons anyway they want on their homescreen. With Gridlock, you no longer need blank icon apps which has these ugly shadows and you have to be careful not to tap on them by mistake. It gives you full freedom arrange your apps any way you like, as can be seen in the screenshots below.
Remember the iWatch concept images that we posted a few months back? While it was just a concept back then, you now have a change to bring it to real life by using the new iPod nano 6G which was only recently announced at Apple’s “Special Media Event” last week.
The official UK website of Apple has this confirmation up on the site that iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod touches will drop on Wednesday, September 8th. This is probably the same day when the new iPod lineup for fall 2010 (iPod nano, iPod shuffle and iPod touch 4G) will also go retail.
Earlier this week, Apple announced the much awaited iOS 4.2 update for the iPad. It brings tons of new features to iPad like Multitasking, Folders, Printing, AirPlay, Game Center and more. Earlier today, Apple overhauled the entire iPod lineup for fall 2010, bringing iPhone 4 like features to iPod touch, multi-touch screen to iPod nano and buttons to iPod shuffle.
Apple has completely redesigned both the iPod nano and iPod shuffle for their fall 2010 iPod lineup. iPod nano gains multi-touch functionality, new lighter and smaller square’ish design, and at the same time loses video camera which was only introduced last year. iPod shuffle on the other hand has got all the buttons back, with a new large battery which gives up to 15 hours.
Apple has just announced the all new Apple TV. This new 2010 version of Apple TV is only one fourth the size of the original, and it comes in black matte finish. It supports HDMI output, 802.11 WiFi-N and optical audio. There is no local storage here, Apple TV completely depends on the cloud for streaming media content. Apart from iTunes, you will be able to access Netflix, YouTube, Flickr and MobileMe services right from the comfort of your couch.
