Paul Morris·May 9, 2013
The majority of the technology conference talk might be currently centered around Apple's WWDC 2013, and the goodies that it might bring, but we shouldn't be forgetting about the annual Google I/O event that begins on May 15th. To celebrate the fact that the doors of the Moscone will be imminently opening, Google has pushed out some fairly significant updates to the official I/O conference app for Android devices.

Apex Launcher 2.0 For Android Released; Brings Integration With Apex Notifier And More

Ben Reid·May 9, 2013
Custom home launchers allow Android users to really customize their device's home screen beyond stock, and although there are many out there, only a dozen or so are regarded among the elite. It is without question that Apex Launcher must be considered a part of that group, and today developer Android Does has brought in some interesting improvements and enhancements in bumping the popular home screen alternative up to version 2.0. As you would expect from a point zero update, there are plenty goodies thrown into the bag, including, most notably, deep integration with Apex Notifier. Details after the break!

How To Schedule SMS, Twitter, Facebook And Gmail Messages On Android

Ben Reid·May 7, 2013
The ability to schedule messages is made possible on my iPhone thanks to the wonderful BiteSMS app, but since I'll be making the transition from iOS to Android this week having picked up the HTC One, I just had to go out and find an Android app offering this vitally important functionality. I perhaps got more than I bargained for in my discovery of Schemes, an app which not only facilitates the sending of SMS messages at predisposed times, but also emails, Facebook updates and Tweets.

SmartSilence For Android Lets You Schedule Silent Mode On Your Device, Saves You From Public Embarrassment

Ben Reid·May 3, 2013
SmartSilence for Android is an app that allows you to avoid the faux pas of having your device’s ringer test its vocal chords at those oh-so inconvenient times. By allowing you to schedule time periods when you’ll definitely be requiring total silence from your smartphone, you can avoid the interruption of the call or text tone that, for some reason, always seems to ring loudest when you don’t want it to at all. More details and the download link can be found right after the break.

Instagram For iPhone And Android Now Lets You Tag Photos, Adds ‘Photos Of You’ Section And More [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·May 3, 2013
When Instagram was purchased by Facebook early on last year, many devotees feared their treasured app would simply become an extension of the social network. To Mark Zuckerberg's credit, he's kept to his promise of allowing Instagram to retain its identity, but in an update released simultaneously today for both iOS and Android, the famed photo tagging feature has just been added to the Instagram repertoire.

Ben Reid·May 2, 2013
Angry Birds has been the runaway success of the mobile era, and having started as a simple game for the Apple iPhone, now spawns every major platform with numerous adaptations of the original title. We learned early on last month that Angry Birds Friends, a social take on the popular format, would soon be debuting over at the App Store, and today, creator Rovio Entertainment has delivered a double whammy of avian-slinging madness by releasing the title for both iOS and Google's Android.

How To Get iOS-like Music App On Android

Ben Reid·May 1, 2013
iOS, much to the dismay of many of its loyal users, has remained relatively unchanged over the past few revisions, but one feature which has been given a visual update fairly recently is the Music app. The iPhone and iPod touch versions have been skinned to look like their iPad counterpart, and the newer uniform look has certainly improved the overall aesthetics, if not the functionality. If you're an Android user, and would like to enjoy the look and feel of this evolved app on your Samsung or HTC, then you may be interested in a new app called iMusic, which readily helps you achieve this goal.
