Being both an Android and iOS user, I would count myself among the apparent few that actually enjoys both platforms in almost equal measure. One of the great advantages of Google’s mobile OS over Apple’s is the ability to download and install widgets, and Beautiful Widgets for Android, which has just got a free version over at the Play Store, stays true to its name in offering a deluge of delicious widgets for you to choose from.
What I love most about these widgets, is that they’re designed to accentuate the natural designs of stock Android. While many developers have come through with some great-looking widgets in the past, they often clash with the native look and feel, but the whole ‘beauty’ aspect behind Beautiful Widgets is one of rampant simplicity.
As aforementioned, the new Beautiful Widgets is free of charge, although some widgets are only available by means of in-app purchase. For free, you get the clock, weather, and Wi-Fi toggle widgets, and if you feel the look of the widgets aren’t quite ‘beautiful’ enough, you can select up to ten new themes from a sparse database.
As you may expect, once you turn on the money hose and part with your cash, the app does have quite a bit more to offer. Goodies such as increased detail on the weather widget, HD tablet optimization, as well as a plethora of toggles make the purchasing option a tempting one, and if you want the complete experience, you may well want to give these extras a look-in, or you can just grab yourself the Pro version which costs a cool $3.49, and comes loaded with all the goodies right off the bat.
If you don’t want to spend all of your monies on the additional widgets but would like to use them nonetheless, the developer notes that you can do so via Getjar Gold’s reward system, which reimburses you for trying out new and free apps. Obviously, spending the money is the simplest way to go, but if you have a little spare time on your hands, the Getjar route is certainly an option.
