Although the form factor of the iPhone 4 / 4S was relatively compact and by no means bulky to hold, the recent release of the iPhone 5 has left many consumers amazed at just how much thinner and lighter Apple has managed to go with regards to design. Svelte it may be, but packing in the (improved) technology took a lot of effort, and while Jony Ive and team would have thrown quite a few pieces of paper into the waste-basket in trying to get the radical interior reshuffle to work out, the main manufacturer of the device - Foxconn - also had a few headaches.
I'm not sure about you, but I love seeing some of the most sought after, well-crafted and technologically-advanced gadgets be torched, chopped and dropped - all in the name of pure entertainment. While thousands - if not millions - of consumers save up their pennies for months in order to afford their next big tech purchase, there's always a company or organization out there simply tarnishing them and filming the result for our viewing pleasure.
Just as we expected, Apple has sent out media invites for an event which they are going to host in the California Theatre, San Jose, dated 23rd October.
At the beginning of this month, it was presumed the iPad Mini would be announced on October 17th, with invitations going out a week prior on the 10th. That hasn't turned out to be the case, but tech enthusiasts remain defiantly undeterred - predicting Apple's announcement instead for next week. As well as corroborating the notion of a launch next week, AppleInsider has learned the smaller iPad will arrive in four storage configurations ranging from an entry-level 8GB all the way up to 64GB.
The elusive iPad Mini is, despite the setback of the announcement date having been incorrectly predicted, set to be arriving in the coming weeks, and although the specification of the device has seemed relatively assured for some time, pricing hasn't. With the smaller slate supposedly preserving Apple's dominance in fending off the growing list of cheaper tablets, the cost of the iPad Mini will be a large attributing factor to wither it serves its purpose, and a leaked snap of a German retailer's internal database appears to have shed a little light on the matter.
As part of the next unique press event that will be organized to introduce us to the smaller mid-range iPad, Apple will also be announcing the much-anticipated 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. The information regarding the intention to announce the new MacBook is coming directly from a well-placed source within a high profile retail outlet in the United States and is said to be consistently accurate with the information that is provided.
Apple has been busy over the last few weeks with the introduction of new iPods, launching the all-new iPhone 5 and the accompanying iOS 6 software. The hardware and software that has come out of Cupertino’s doors recently would normally be enough for any other company but it looks like Apple aren't finished yet with the introduction of a miniature iPad on the cards as well as the possible announcement surrounding a much welcome refresh to their iMac computers.
Now that the wait is finally over and Apple have officially started shipping out the iPod touch fifth-generation to consumers, we can truly get an insight into what the new portable media player is like from an aesthetic and technical aspect and how it actually stacks up against its predecessor as well as the sixth-generation iPhone.
Although there has been a great deal of speculation surrounding the specifications and possible launch date of the purported iPad Mini, we are still waiting on official confirmation from Apple itself related to the device. With that said, we are pretty sure that Apple will remain on track to officially introduce us to the new baby iPad this month, and it is being reported that the very media event that will be held for the iPad Mini could also focus heavily on the company's iBooks platform as part of the presentation.
Apple's sixth iteration of iOS has been out in the wild for over two weeks now and although it offers a number of new and impressive features and improvements for users, it appears that it also brings with it a new way for Apple to track users and their activity levels on the device. We should all remember the uproar that was caused last year when it became common knowledge that hidden files were stored on iOS devices that contained user location data, so this latest activity monitoring is sure to ruffle some feathers.
