When it comes to mobile apps, the people in the know generally agree that keeping it simpler is the way to go. In fact, one widely used design model for developers is the Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) method which encourages designers and developers to make their creations as simple as possible. Mobile devices function differently from their desktop or notebook counterparts as they don't have as much screen real estate to take advantage of and need to function perfectly through a touchscreen interface.

If you ever decided to take the time to sit and sift through the hundreds and thousands of packages that live within the default repositories in Cydia, I would imagine you would need to set aside a fair portion of your week in order to get through them all. With that said, even if you managed to sort through the packages, you only come out with a handful of tweaks or extensions that would be classed as essential installations for your jailbroken iOS device.
It seems that now the new iPad has been officially launched and available for almost a week, it is Samsung’s turn to be subjected to the never-ending rumor mill. In particular, attention is being paid to the Korean giant’s up and coming Samsung Galaxy S III device which will take over from the extremely successful S II model, with Samsung hoping it will fly the flag for the company in the twelve months after launch. We were originally all set to see a preview of the S III at the Mobile World Congress last month, but Samsung chose to delay that in favor of unifying the global launch of the device later in the year.
With the Nokia Lumia 900 set to launch at the back end of next month, the Finnish company is hoping that the Windows Phone powered handset will make a large impact on the American buyers. The Nokia Lumia 900 is the latest in the Lumia family of handsets to be launched and will be seen as the flagship device of the range featuring premium features, including 4G LTE technology and will hopefully be available for AT&T customers in the United States in the next six weeks.
As a company, Apple is getting used to breaking their own sales records, so the fact that they shipped more than 3 million units of the new iPad in the first three days of availability shouldn't really come as a great surprise. The next-generation iPad has proved once again that Apple have the winning formula when it comes to tablet devices, something that has manifested through fantastic first weekend sales and will no doubt put the company on an even greater solid financial footing.
It came as a little bit of shock when Nokia and Microsoft announced a partnership in 2011 that would see the ailing Finnish mobile device maker implement the Windows Phone OS in its next-generation of smartphone releases. The plan was for Nokia to see out their commitment to the Symbian software before ultimately designing and rolling out a range of smartphones powered completely by the Microsoft mobile OS.
Once upon a time when discussing operating systems, Windows would have been at the top of every person’s list and while it is still the world’s most recognizable OS, it has suffered a fall from greatness in recent years. With the whirlwind resurgence of Apple over the last decade, the company’s products and software have become some of the most talked about in the technology world, with Mac OS X benefitting from a rise in popularity, stealing the thunder from Microsoft.
There can be no denying that Apple puts a lot of effort into the native apps that it ships pre-installed with their iOS and Mac OS X operating systems. Some of the installed apps that make up the individual OSes are extremely in-depth and functional pieces of software which are often a lot more advanced that any competing offering that may be available from third-party development studios. With that said, there is always going to be a part of any app, regardless of whether it is part of the operating system or not, that doesn't appeal to users.
Now that Apple have announced their latest updated gadget to the world and the official release day has come and gone, the world can focus on getting back to a certain level of normality and focus on some other excellent up and coming products which don't feature the famous Apple logo. Although the Apple iPhone and iPad are ridiculously popular products around the world, it isn't just the iDevice gadgets that can cause a stir, with a load of attention being paid to the up and coming Samsung Galaxy S III.
The production of the AssistantExtensions tweak for Cydia has made it a lot easier for developers to produce Siri based modifications for download from the Cydia store. Rather than have to do their own groundwork and lay the foundations for hooking into the intelligent assistant, developers can simply build their modification as a plug-in to the already created AssistantExtensions framework making things a lot easier and a lot less time consuming.
