Apple’s New mini-LED MacBook Air Will Reportedly Arrive In Mid-2022

Apple’s upcoming mini-LED MacBook Air refresh will reportedly arrive in the middle of 2022. The notebook, which is also expected to bring a redesigned chassis and upgraded internals, will be quite the departure from MacBook Airs of old.

According to a new report by MacRumors after seeing a research note by Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s new MacBook Air will sue a 13.3-inch mini-LED screen when it arrives in the middle months of 2022.

The new machine’s use of mini-LED will offer benefits like increased contrast and brightness, similar to those seen by the 12.9-inch iPad mini – Apple’s first mini-LED product.

The upcoming ‌MacBook Air‌ will feature a 13.3-inch mini-LED display, which would make it the second Mac to gain mini-LED technology after the 2021 MacBook Pro, which is rumored to include a mini-LED display and is expected to launch later this year. Mini-LED display technology will bring a signifiant improvement in MacBook display quality, allowing for a thinner, lighter design while offering benefits like improved wide color gamut, high contrast and dynamic range, and truer blacks.

Previous reports have the new MacBook Air doing away with the telltale tapered design while still maintaining an overall thin chassis. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has previously suggested that the new machine will also pack the M1’s successor, offering more speed — likely with lower power usage and producing less heat.

Apple still has plenty to get out the door between now and MacBook Air time, of course. New iPhones, iPads, MacBook Pros, and Apple Watches are just some of the hardware releases we expect to happen before this year draws to a close.
