Apple’s Mac Studio Is Getting A New Lock Adapter To Secure It To Tables

Apple’s new Mac Studio workstation is available to buy today with prices starting at $1,999 and going all the way up to a mesmerizing $7999.

With that in mind there is a good chance that you’ll probably want to make sure that it stays safe and sound — and won’t be taken by someone else.

Those with a Mac Studio in hand have noticed what appears to be similar to a Kensington lock hole, but smaller. Now, it seems that Apple plans to release its own lock.

A new MacRumors report, citing an internal Apple document, says that a new Lock Adapter is coming soon, although prices aren’t yet known. The Lock Adapter will work just as you might expect and is designed to “physically secure without modifying or damaging.” We also don’t know exactly when this will go on sale, but we can only hope that it won’t be too far out.

Apple’s new Mac Studio comes equipped with either an M1 Max or M1 Ultra chip, making it the fastest Mac the company sells.

It’s similar in footprint to the existing Mac mini but is taller to make space for the improved cooling required for the M1 Ultra chip in particular. That makes it rather portable and a potential theft risk, hence the need for some way of securing it.
