Apple To Launch 10.9-Inch iPad And 16-Inch MacBook Pro With OLED Displays In Early 2022 [Report]

Apple will launch a new 10.9-inch iPad with an OLED display in the early part of 2022 according to a new report. A new OLED iPad Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro could follow shortly after, too.

This is according to a new report by the hit-and-miss DigiTimes, so keep that in mind when reading.

That said, the outfit does have some wins to its name so it is definitely worth considering that this might be on the money.

The sources pointed out that the first device to come with an OLED panel is likely to be a 10.9-inch ‌iPad‌, set to begin volume production in the fourth quarter of 2021 for an official release in 2022.

The US brand reportedly is also considering adopting OLED panels for its 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ and 16- to 17-inch MacBook Pro scheduled for release in 2022, but have not made a final decision, the sources noted.

Reports of Apple’s decision to go with OLED panels for its devices are interesting because we’ve been hearing so much about the arrival of mini-LED instead. Both offer very similar benefits to both Apple and its customers, but DigiTimes believes that both will be available throughout Apple’s lineup. Both OLED and Mini-LED will be used for different devices, however, “each targeting different customer groups.”
