Apple Teases Upcoming BKC Retail Store In Mumbai, India

Apple has shared a teaser photo of the new Apple BKC retail location, with the Apple Store opening in Mumbai, India.

The new store will open in the Bandra Kurla Complex mall, which is where the BKC name comes from.

The new store will be the first in India, with Apple saying that it is “coming soon” without confirming an actual date for when it will open.

There’s a new Apple BKC entry on the Apple website though, alongside decorative wallpapers for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Apple has also shared a special Apple Music playlist so that people can “move to the sounds of Mumbai.”

Hello Mumbai. We are getting ready to welcome you aboard our first store in India. And raring to see where your creativity takes you at Apple BKC.

Apple’s photo shows the barricade for the new store complete with colorful artwork that is apparently based on Mumbai’s Kaali Peeli taxis. A big “Hello Mumbai” greeting can also be seen in the photo.

India continues to become more pivotal for Apple, with the company aiming to reduce its reliance on Chinese manufacturing. As a result, Apple has moved some manufacturing capacity to India via its supply chain partners and this first Indian Apple Store further strengthens the link between the iPhone maker and the country.

While it hasn’t yet been confirmed when the store will open, April is thought to be a good bet right now.
