Apple Could Launch 4.7-Inch iPhone SE 2 In 2020 [Report]

Apple is set to announce the iPhone 11 range of phones next week but attentions are already turning to 2020. And according to Nikkei we might see a new iPhone SE next year.

Apple killed the iPhone SE off back in 2018 and people have been hoping for its successor ever since. If it is going to arrive next year, it looks set to change one vital part of its makeup – it’s going to have a 4.7-inch display.

The original iPhone SE was so popular for two main reasons. The first was its $399 asking price for the other was the use of a 4-inch display. Apple was in the process of moving to a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone lineup which wasn’t something everyone liked. The iPhone SE offered a smaller form factor, but according to this new report that screen size will not return.

The report doesn’t confirm what the expected price will be. Nor does it say whether the Home button and Touch ID will return. It does however say that the iPhone will overall resemble the iPhone 8 which could confirm both of those things. Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see.

With the iPhone 11 arriving next week it’s possible that the iPhone XR will remain at a lower price point. If that’s the case, the iPhone SE will need to undercut that price in order to make it viable.

The possibility of that will no doubt depend on the internals used, with some quarters suggesting an A13 processor will be used. An older chip is more likely if Apple wants to meet a much lower price point instead.
