Apple CEO Tim Cook To Meet With President Biden And Others To Discuss Cybersecurity

Apple CEO, Tim Cook, will meet with other CEOs and United States President, Joe Biden, next week, according to a new report. The meeting will include Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, as well as representatives from Amazon, Google, and more.

According to the Bloomberg report, the topic of cybersecurity is the main reason for the get-together.

The executives could discuss efforts undertaken by critical infrastructure entities, including those in the banking, energy and water utility sectors, to improve cybersecurity and collaborations with the government. The tech executives are likely to discuss how software can drive better security in the supply chain, the senior official said.

It isn’t clear whether the topic of Apple’s new CSAM efforts will also get some attention during the meeting, although it does seem likely that something so controversial will crop up at least in passing.

Apple’s security efforts haven’t always been something the United States and its law enforcement teams have agreed with.

Apple famously refused to help build a back door that would allow officials to gain access to a terrorist’s iPhone, something that caused quite the kerfuffle in the world of security and law enforcement.
