Amazon Announces Echo Show 5 With Smaller 5.5-Inch Display, Privacy Shutter
Amazon has a new version of its Echo Show available today, with the Echo Show 5 being a smaller version of the existing Echo Show. It’s super small, and as that name suggests, it features a 5.5-inch display. There’s a camera and a speaker build-in, and without doubt, the biggest news here is the small price – the Echo Show 5 will cost just $89.99.
Like most Echo devices, the Echo Show 5 will be available in multiple colors, with Charcoal and Sandstone being the two options. There will also be a magnetic stand that can be used to tilt the device, although it will set buyers back $19.99.
Amazon seems to be very aware that people are becoming increasingly concerned about having things with cameras in their homes. To that end, it’s built a physical shutter button that will disable the camera when users want, giving them that added peace of mind that nobody is sat watching them while they get up to whatever it is they get up to in their own homes.
Alexa can show you more – Compact 5.5” smart display ready to help manage your day, entertain at a glance, and connect you to friends and family.
Made to fit your life – Cook along to step-by-step recipes. Easily update to-do lists and calendars. Glance at weather and traffic on your way out.
Big entertainment – Ask Alexa to show you movie trailers or the news. Or listen to radio stations, podcasts, and audiobooks.
Control your smart home – Voice control compatible devices or manage them on the easy-to-use display. Ask Alexa to show you security cameras, control lights, and adjust thermostats.
We’re big fans of small assistants like this, especially when they have a built-in display like this. The Echo Show 5 is also very competitively priced, which makes it a good option for those looking to get into the whole smart device world without spending big.
You can pre-order the Echo Show 5 right now, but you’ll have to wait until next month for it to ship – June 26th, to be precise.
