After porting preliminary release of Flash to iPhone, the guy behind Spirit untethered jailbreak tool for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch has now managed to run “real” Flash content right on the jailbroken Apple iPad. Dubbed as “Frash”, this is basically a port of Adobe Flash runtime for Android running on iPad using a compatibility layer. You can check out the video after the break to see it for yourself. It looks really promising, specially because its coming from non other than well known iPhone hacker named comex.

The YouTube description of the video explains everything about the port as follows.
Frash is a port of the Adobe Flash runtime for Android to the iPhone, using a compatibility layer, by comex ( http://twitter.com/comex ). Frash can currently run most Flash programs natively in the MobileSafari browser. Frash currently only runs on the iPad, but support for other devices (3GS+ only due to technical restrictions) is planned, as well as support for iOS 4.
A release is planned for when Frash is stable. Developers are welcome to join the effort at http://github.com/comex/frash – fork it and send a pull request with your patches.
And here is the video of it in action..
I for one cant wait to get it in action on my iPad. What about you? [via YouTube, GitHub]

Can we see Hulu running? Or has hulu blocked the Safari for iPhone browser in all?

I guess Mr. Jobs must feel like a fool now! He can't keep the “I” empire locked up and only available to Apple approved apps.

I tried flash on the nexus one. Be careful what you wish for. Flash is buggy, slows the system to a snails pace and eats memory and battery life like it's going out of style.

Flash needs to hurry up and die already, we don't need it in our nice walled garden.

I've got a Nexus One. Watch movies all day on it. Of course it runs battery faster than web browsing, but thats normal.

Got it up and running on my iPad. Not too Shabby Comex. Needs some kinks ironed out (maybe two finger tap to bring up a keyboard?) but over all I'm liking it. I can't wait for that iPhone 4 JailBreak!!!
(#)
HOW????!!!! How did you get a copy?
(#)
2 finger idea is good.

Anyone else notice no games are actually PLAYED in the video above?
Sure flash is great to have for watching videos and other passive entertainment – but most flash games require keyboard input. Video formats are going to change on the internet. Adobe Flash will become a niche product just like Adobe Shockwave.

android BARELY can do anything apple tries to do flash is buggy even on droid and droid still has while to go before it even CATCHES UP to apples iphone

Admittedly Flash has been repeatedly labelled a dying format with the emergence of HTML5, but in the (presumably long) time it’ll take for most websites to convert, it’ll be great to have a bridge like this. Go Comex!
