Two Redesigned mini-LED MacBook Pro Models To Arrive In 2021, Budget MacBook Air In 2022

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has again suggested that Apple will release two new MacBook Pro models with mini-LED screens next year. A similar rumor has been doing the rounds for the last few months and Kup has again backed that up.

In a research note seen by 9to5Mac, Kuo says that two new form factor MacBook Pro devices will ship in 2021, both of which will use the mini-LED screens that we’ve heard so much about. That will allow for darker blacks and improved contrast compared to the LCD panels Apple has been using so far.

Rumors of a 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro could fit well with this latest news.

Interestingly, Kuo also seems to believe that a “more affordable new MacBook Air” is in the works as well, although little is known about that beyond the fact that it won’t be ready until 2022. Kuo does say that it will also make use of the new mini-LED screen technology, however.

All of these new Macs will be powered by Apple’s M1 CPU, of course.

Kuo also appears to suggest that new chargers are in the works, but that’s as much as he says.

Finally, Kuo writes that Apple will likely launch “2 or 3 new chargers in 2021.” It’s unclear what exactly this means, but it could mean more powerful wall chargers with faster charging using GaN technology. It could also relate to the continued expansion of the MagSafe line of accessories.

Could Apple be bringing MagSafe back to the MacBook lineup?
