The iPhone 16 Could Feature A Color-Infused Back Glass

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro phones are expected to be released to the public this coming September and there are plenty of rumors about what those phones will have to offer.

Now, we’re seeing the return of an existing rumor — that the iPhone 16 will use the same color-infused back glass that was previously used on the standard iPhone 15 models.

That’s according to a new rumor coming out of the Weibo-based leaker ‘Fixed focus digital’ who claims that the color-infused back glass is coming to the iPhone 16. They claim to have seen the back glass in an iPhone 16 color scheme.

Apple’s description of the finish last year explained how it goes about creating a matte glass finish.

“For the first time in a smartphone, color is infused throughout the back glass, creating five beautiful colors. The back glass is strengthened with an optimized dual-ion exchange process before being polished with nanocrystalline particles and etched to create a luxurious, textured matte finish.”

Last month saw a similar leak which suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro would also make use of this particular type of back glass finish, but it’s notable that this latest report does not mention the iPhone 16 Pro at all. However, it’s important to remember that neither sources of these back glass leaks have a track record for us to pull from, so keep that in mind when putting faith in them.

If Apple sticks to its usual release schedule we expect the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max to all be announced in September.
