Tesla’s Cybertruck Will Now Come With Four Motors, Four-Wheel Steering According To Musk

Tesla’s upcoming Cybertruck will come with some upgraded features, according to CEO Elon Musk. When the truck finally ships buyers can now look forward to a four-motor version while four-wheel steering and a crab mode are also in the works.

With Tesla now expected to launch the production version of the Cybertruck in 2022, Musk says that a four-motor option will bring support for individual wheel control in terms of torque control.

“Initial production will be a 4-motor variant, with independent, ultra-fast response torque control of each wheel.”

What’s more, Tesla’s CEO has also said that the truck will have four-wheel steering like similar EVs. That will allow for a smaller turning circle as well as a crab mode, making the car considerably more capable when driving off-road.

“Will have both front and rear wheel steer, so not just like a tank – it can drive diagonally like a crab.”

At this point however, people who are looking to buy a new Cybertruck would likely prefer to just know when they’ll be able to do that. We’re still waiting for a firm release window for this thing, and with competition from the likes of Rivian and GMC, Tesla is no longer the biggest player in town.
