Tesla Model 3 Refresh Leaks Showing New Steering Wheel

A refreshed Model 3 has leaked in new video footage posted to the video-sharing service TikTok. While it’s difficult to see exactly what the interior looks like based on the video it’s clear that a new steering wheel is installed.

The video was reported on by Electrek which had also reportedly heard rumors that a Model 3 refresh was in the works.

That refresh was thought to be called Highland internally and that it would likely arrive in the second half of 2023. Now, that appears to have been at least partially correct with this new vehicle being tested.

We can see that the steering wheel differs from the one seen in the current Model 3. It looks closer to the round steering wheel in the new Model S and Model X, which famously use force touch buttons to replace the stalks. The rest of the interior is barely visible as Tesla covered it, seemingly to prevent this type of leak from happening.

It’s suggested that the video itself was filmed via a drone that was flown over Tesla’s test track at the Fremont factory. It shows a number of Model 3 vehicles with one having its door open just enough to give us a look inside.

We can likely expect to see more leaks of this nature as the refreshed Model 3 gets closer to being ready for sale, while the company will also surely share more details sooner rather than later.
