The EFF has this week filed a petition to the Librarian of Congress and the Copyright Office to extend and expand the exemption that allows the jailbreaking of smartphones. The new petition will hopefully see tablets added to the current exemption.
iCleaner Pro, designed and developed by Italian developer Ivano Bilenchi, has just been taken to version7.3.0 beta. This latest release contains a whole host of bug fixes that were found in 7.2.x, as well as initial support for jailbroken iOS 8 devices. If you've liberated your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad using the latest Pangu8 untether for iOS 8, and have an innate desire to continually monitor storage and wasted space on that device then iCleaner Pro is more than likely the package for you.
Those behind the great tweaks gracing Cydia are certainly creative, talented, and dedicated enough to ensure that the jailbreak scene continues to thrive. Ryan Petrich has authored a number of tweaks and mods, having been an active member of the community for as long as most can remember, and with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus both offering the usual assortment of exclusive features, Petrich has ensured that those on other devices are not left out.
The iPhone 6 / 6 Plus' Reachability feature while much needed, is no justice to the glorious Retina display. Especially in times of typing, you want the keyboard to conveniently slide to one side of the screen for reaching those keys extended to the far corners of your reach, instead of the entire screen. This is where HandyKey - a new Cydia tweak - comes in.
The jailbreak scene has been inundated with several awesome new tweaks since the Pangu team came through with its universal untether for those running the all-new iOS 8 / 8.1 software. From brand-new ideas to swift updates of old favorites like f.lux, we've not been short of options since Cydia waltzed back into our lives, and now, you can further enhance functionality by means of a tweak that allows you to alter the native resolution of your iPhone.
Apple rolled out iOS 8.1.1 beta a couple of days back, and along with the usual assortment of bug fixes and minor tweaks, the main alteration, at least as far as the jailbreak community is concerned, is the fact that it plugs exploits that have permitted Pangu8 to work its magic. Thus, when iOS 8.1.1 is deemed ready for prime time and Apple stops signing iOS 8.1, you will only then be able to update to iOS 8.1.1, which will in turn mean losing any immediate opportunity to jailbreak.
iOS 8 / 8.1 users can finally enable guest mode on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch if they are currently jailbroken.
The Pangu team's release of a jailbreak for iOS 8 / 8.1 was a very pleasant and prompt surprise, but while we commend the work of the Chinese outfit, the response from the wider community has been equally admirable. Saurik, the author and maintainer of Cydia, has been working tirelessly to bring Cydia up to compliance with both Pangu and iOS 8 / 8.1, and having released a major update last week with a number of fixes, has just rolled out version 1.1.16. Full details, changelog and information on how you can avail this latest version of Cydia can be found after the fold.
Since first releasing its jailbreak tool for iOS 8 / 8.1 only a couple of weeks back, the Pangu team has remained dedicated to the task of improving it, and having pushed a major update last week to bump the version number up to 1.1, today sees the roll-out of Pangu8 1.2.0. Once again, there are a number of fixes and performance tweaks, and if you're planning on jailbreaking your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 8 / 8.1, check the details after the leap!
As promised by the Pangu team, the updated Pangu 8.0-8.1.x Untether package is now available to download for those who have jailbroken their devices using Pangu8 on iOS 8 / 8.1.
