Jay Freeman, better known throughout the jailbreak community as Cydia creator Saurik, rarely dabbles in the business of building tweaks himself. The WinterBoard jailbreak app has been around almost as long as Cydia itself, and since its release, tweaks from the founding member of the jailbreak scene have been fewer and farther between. But earlier today, a new tweak by the name of Cyueue entered his repository, and simply put, allows for a more flexible experience when using the native Music app.
With each new release of iOS, Apple tends to add a few new features to Safari, even if it's just some tweaks to improve performance, or perhaps compatibility. In a world where Google's Chrome is now available for the platform, Safari is no longer the only viable choice for a day-to-day browser that ticks all the boxes, and in the face of competition, Apple must act.
Readers of a certain age will remember Duke Nukem from before it became the laughing stock of the gaming world. Following a huge delay of Duke Nukem Forever that saw it skip at least one console generation, the game finally made it onto shelves only to be universally panned by critics and gamers alike.
Former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal reflects fondly on a time when he used to pester former Apple CEO Steve Jobs to allow him an early look at the iPhone. As one of the most famous names in sporting history, Shaq was accustomed to companies falling over each other to have him endorse and use their products for promotional purposes, but despite calling Jobs every other day, the late, great Apple co-founder refused to budge. In a rather heartwarming tale of conversation between two legends in their own right, Jobs had to contend with an almost daily barrage of "Stevey baby, it's Shaqy, can I get one of those iPhones?"
For some, the natural progression from the standalone camera has been to utilize the ever-improving shooters of their smartphones. Tablets, while considered principally similar to their smaller counterparts, are seen as less ideal for taking pictures and shooting video, for obvious reasons (hint: awkwardness in public). This is understandable really, since they're less convenient to carry around, and vendors tend to favor smartphones when it comes to the quality of snapper. However, with its new YouTube Capture app for the iPad, Google is looking to buck this trend, instead seeking to encourage users to use their tablets in order to create videos.
Everyone loves it when they get something for free, right? That free gift is made even better when it actually turns out to be something functional and useful that could make certain aspects of interacting with the iPhone easier. The Compose package from Cydia definitely falls into the bracket of being free and useful, making it a prime install for those operating a jailbroken device running a variant of iOS 6.x.
A leaked video uploaded to, and subsequently pulled from YouTube has the internet aflutter tonight with news that Google may be about to bring its latest crown jewel to iOS.
With Samsung set to announce its Galaxy S IV in around 48 hours, a lot of the talk around the web right now is about the expected feature which allows the device to track a user's eye movements.
Apple as a company is extremely meticulous and consistent when it comes to things like advertising and marketing. The company's television based ad campaigns have become famous all over the world in recent years for their simplicity and insistence of focusing purely on the products and removing anything else that simply isn't important to the user experience. The Cupertino based company has recently posted two new iPhone 5 based commercials on its website where that consistency is once again highlighted with the 'Discover' and 'Brilliant' ads.
It is starting to get a little tedious now, but you still have to admire the ingenuity that people are applying into finding new ways and locations to record one of those increasingly annoying Harlem Shake videos. We've seen airline staff taking the limelight. We've seen Australian miners staring danger in the face by recording themselves performing an underground version of the dance as well as multiple military parades breaking into the trend. It seems that not even technology is exempt from this craze, with jailbroken iPhones also getting involved in the action.
