Pangu 8.0-8.1.x Untether 0.4 Released With Fix For Safari, Update Now!

As promised by the Pangu team, the updated Pangu 8.0-8.1.x Untether package is now available to download for those who have jailbroken their devices using Pangu8 on iOS 8 / 8.1.

Now sitting at version 0.4, the updated untether package doesn’t bring anything new to users who are currently in the ownership of newer, 64-bit devices, like the iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 etc. Instead the update focuses on fixing a bug that has plagued 32-bit devices.

What’s the bug you ask?

The issue pertains to a situation where the Safari app would crash randomly while being used. According to the Pangu team itself, the devices being affected are as follows: iPod touch 5th-gen, iPhone 4s / 5, iPad 2 / 3 / 4 and the first-gen iPad mini.

The complete changelog of the update according to Cydia is as follows:

Version 0.4 of this package fixes the issue where, on 32-bit devices (iPod 5, iPhone 4S/5, iPad 2/3/4, iPad Mini 1), applications (particuarly Safari) would randomly crash while being used.

The updated untether package can be downloaded directly from the Cydia store using the usual tried and trusted method. Simply launch Cydia, click on Changes, then tap on the ‘Refresh’ button, and the latest update will be presented to you. Simply download and you’re done. Who ever said jailbreaking was hard?

It’s worth noting that if you’re already jailbroken, then there’s no need to re-jailbreak your device. Simply follow the steps which we’ve outlined above and you’re golden. And make sure your reboot your device after installing the package.

Whether you’re a 32 or 64-bit device user, it’s highly recommended that you grab the update right away, to keep things up to date on your end.

We still don’t have word on when the Mac OS X version of the Pangu8 tool will be out, but judging by how things are progressing in the jailbreak world, we’re certain that the tool will be released fairly soon. And whenever that tool hits the interwebs, we’ll definitely inform our readers.

Meanwhile, grab the update from Cydia!
