Custom ROMs are the way to go for power users of Android devices. No matter what developer you take and whichever flavor of a custom ROM you may want to pick up, some of the omni-present features would be faster updates, better modifications, root access, custom recovery, zip aligned APKs, deodexed ROMs, more features, ports from other devices and whatnot. Then, there’s that class of these firmware that hail from the Android Open Source Project, or AOSP, as it is better known. These ROMs are decidedly different from others, in their minimalist native feature set and more freedom towards change.
Seldom, when launching the Safari mobile browser on an iOS device, do we wish to go back to the same page we were looking at several minutes / hours / days previously. Often, it's an annoyance to me that Safari launches on a Google search performed a day earlier to settle a minor dispute, and there's usually that couple of seconds' delay in loading the old page before I can get on with the new task at hand. As is so often the case with the thriving Cydia community, there's a tweak for that; it's called SafariBlankPage, and we've got all of the details coming up after the leap!
Keen designers Ran Avni and Uygar Kaya have come up with yet another iPhone 6 concept which incorporates many of the features iPhone fans have long since been pining for, including wireless charging, LED notifications and of course, a larger, wider screen. It's easily one of the best concepts we've had the pleasure of ogling, and you can decide whether you agree by checking out the video after the break!
Electronic Arts has been there at the launch of countless game consoles throughout its prolific years, and it is going to be no different even this time around.
Whereas most vendors release a new flagship, take some time to appreciate their achievements and perhaps even give themselves a little self-congratulation, Samsung instead works without relent to bring more devices, more features, and more options to consumers. The Galaxy S4 may just be taking its baby steps into the market, but the talk of several spin-off devices has been incessant since before consumers could even get their hands on the latest and greatest. The Galaxy S4 Mini has been mentioned several times, as has a ruggedized, water and dustproof model of Galaxy S4, and according to a bunch of leaked images, the latter now looks a certainty for release in the near future.
Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 4 back in February perhaps brought more questions than answers, the main of which was quite simply, what the heck does it look like? It's rare for a company to make an announcement of such a significant product without at least offering a glimpse of what its consumers should be excited about, and although we've already clapped eyes of the DualShock 4 controller, Sony has chosen the eve of the next-gen Xbox announcement to reveal that the PS4 will now certainly be unveiled at June's E3 expo.
Google Glass is definitely the hottest topic around at the moment, even if Google didn't say much about the new technology during its Google I/O opening keynote. The internet is abuzz with stories from people who were lucky enough to get their hands, or heads, on one of the Explorer Edition of the product a couple of weeks ago. We seemingly can't get enough of Google's special eyewear, and it's easy to understand why.
You can level all kinds of legitimate complaints at Facebook, but not iterating is certainly not one of them. The Facebook web interface is currently undergoing some big changes, with those changes being rolled out to users on a staggered basis. We've not got all of them ourselves, but one that we do have access to is Stickers.
If you read my reasoning for returning to the jailbreak scene with the iPhone 5 jailbreak release back in February, then you'll know that up until that point I really wasn't sold on the whole jailbreak scene. I'd dabbled in the past, with limited success, and always decided to return to Apple's way of thinking by ditching the jailbreak completely. I'd had battery problems, stability issues and a general feeling of disappointment when jailbreaking, but that all changed in February with the release of Evasi0n. Three months later, I can't see myself ever going back to stock.
