Apple is reportedly planning a newly redesigned iPhone each and every year between now and 2027, making the next three generations different from each one that came before it.
MacRumors reports that Chinese supply chain leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo has outed plans for a phased industrial design change for each release in 2025, 2026, and 2027.
It’s expected that some of those changes will focus on the rear camera setup as well as the front-facing camera components. Finally, it’s thought that the front-facing sensors and camera will be completely removed or placed beneath the display.
By the time the final change in 2027 comes around Apple’s iPhone will have no cutout in its display, making for a huge, uninterrupted display.
Around the back, it’s thought that Apple will move to a “horizontal large matrix lens decorative component which will bring the biggest redesign to the iPhone’s camera layout in years. That’s expected to happen in 2025. In 2026, it’s thought that Apple will remove the Dynamic Island and replace it with a single hole for the front-facing camera. In 2027, the full removal of the visible camera will be the biggest change yet.
However, it’s as yet unclear whether we should expect any of these changes to be limited to the more expensive Pro models. That seems the most likely, at least initially, but time will tell and we can expect more leaks as we get closer to each new iPhone’s arrival.
