There is a new iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak out in the wild. Released by Chinese developers, and dubbed as Pangu, the new untethered jailbreak is said to be working on the latest iOS 7.1.1 firmware and supports all the latest devices including the likes of iPhone 5S and iPad Air.
Apple's iPhone 5s offered many new features and perks over the preceding iPhone 5, and the most obvious - aside from the gold color option - was the introduction of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Like many marquee features before it, Touch ID has been exclusive to the iPhone 5s for the duration of its tenure as Apple's flagship, but with the iPhone 6 now looming, it seems almost certain that the fingerprint sensor will also be added to the Cupertino's iPad roster. As well as bringing Touch ID to the iPad Air 2 and Retina iPad mini 3 later this year, it is also being reported that Apple is making some design changes for a more durable, reliable experience moving forward.
According to a report out of Thailand, two of Apple's main iPhone manufacturers have been hiring new staff en masse in preparation for the launch of the new iPhone 6. Foxconn has apparently beefed up personnel to the tune of over 100,000 workers, while Pegatron - a more recent addition to Apple's list of manufacturing partners - has also upped its numbers by almost one-third.
One area where Apple’s otherwise wonderful product, the iPhone, falls short in is the file management department. iOS natively does not offer any form of file management solution, owing to the restricted nature of the OS anyway. Then, from the several third-party solutions available over at the iTunes App Store, the good ones are mostly paid. And we’re not talking just $0.99 either; some capable file managers for iPhone and iPad can even touch a solid $10 before you can make them yours. There are free options available, but it’s a pain to find good ones out of the thousands available.
We may not be into the whole selfie craze quite as much as the kids seem to be, but we do know a good app when we see one. If you do insist on taking photos of yourself along with what will probably be the top half of your arm because you're holding the phone out to take the picture, then there are plenty of apps to use. We're pretty sure there is nothing quite like to.be Camera though.
The world may be getting smaller and smaller thanks to the world wide web and modern technologies, but that doesn't mean that everything that's available to rent or buy in one country is available in them all. Apple's iTunes is a prime example of that, with some content available in the United States but not in others, and even some of that content that is available internationally is delayed before making its way outside the U.S. borders. The old saying of 'there's no smoke without fire' has never been more apt than Apple's fabled iWatch. With absolutely no news coming out of Apple in official channels, there have been enough leaks, and enough hiring of medical and fashion-oriented people that, at this point, we'd be flabbergasted if a smartwatch wasn't on Apple's roadmap. Quite when that will turn into a shipping product however, is anybody's guess.
With September drawing ever nearer, the iPhone 6 bandwagon is rolling on nicely. The expected announcement of the next-generation iPhone may be just three months away, but there is still quite a lot of information to be leaked before we know for sure what we will be lining up for. The smart money is on at least one new iPhone being released at that time, with another coming weeks later. The two new phones are expected to feature larger screens than Apple's past offerings, which makes this particular launch even more interesting than usual.
With so much iOS 8 excitement and noise in the way, we tend to forget at times that iOS 7 still exists for devices in our pockets. And today we’ve learned that iOS 7 is due for an incremental update, in the form of 7.1.2, which should drop in a mere few days, according to a new report that has just surfaced.
