Both iPhone 6 And iPhone 6L Will Cost More Than Previous iPhone Models, Says Report

Ben Reid·August 29, 2014
Although most of the rumors we'll be hearing over the next couple of weeks will likely tread on old ground, the fact that we've official confirmation of the iPhone 6 event places renewed emphasis on whatever is divulged. For example, it has long since been suggested that Apple's next-gen iPhone will be pricier than the current-generation iPhone 5s, but with carriers now coming through with figures for the retail run of the fruit company's impending handset, we perhaps didn't realize just how much more it will be costing.

Contact Center For iOS Significantly Enhances Communication On iPhone

Ben Reid·August 29, 2014
Through the last few generations of iOS, Apple has looked to pool certain aspects of its mobile operating systems into unified, easy-to-manage hubs. First it was the Notification Center of iOS 5, and back in September, we finally got system-wide access to toggles with the Control Center. But the Mac maker could certainly do with adding a few more of these systems across the platform, and one third-party offering seeks to simplify the process of contacting folk and sending messages.

SIM-Equipped Samsung Gear S Smartwatch Announced Featuring Curved Display

Ben Reid·August 28, 2014
Although we're still waiting on the Apple iWatch and the myriad of vendors set to push out smartwatches on Android Wear, Samsung has been incredibly busy over the past twelve months. Having launched the less than appealing Galaxy Gear alongside the Galaxy Note 3 at last year's IFA, the Korean outfit then went on and showcased the Gear 2 and Gear Fit at the Mobile World Congress, and with the Gear Live announced for Android Wear at I/O, the company is still not done. For a while, it has been rumored that Sammy would unveil a device packing its own data connection, unlike the current fleet of smartphone-dependent watches, and today, the cellular Gear S has been officially unveiled.

Here’s More Evidence That iPhone 6 / 6L Will Come With NFC

Ben Reid·August 28, 2014
Apple looks poised to break several long-standing habits when it unleashes the iPhone 6 at some point in the next few weeks, and among them, the Cupertino company will apparently roll out near-field communication, or NFC. Although numerous Android vendors have offered this little piece of hardware for a good couple of generations now, Apple may finally indulge in a feature that enables, for example, the processing of mobile payments. Yet while some reports have indicated that only the larger, 5.5-inch iPhone will get NFC, a new report instead suggests that both models of iPhone 6 will be treated to this technology.

Standalone Xbox One Kinect Sensor Gets A Release Date, Price

Ben Reid·August 28, 2014
Microsoft made a brave, if not reckless call in the run-up to the release of the Xbox One, and in honesty, the decision to bundle the Kinect peripheral in as a standard feature was just one of many suspect choices that might have contributed to Sony's early lead with the PlayStation 4. The fact that Xbox One owners got a motion-sensing camera that they didn't necessarily want was not the main issue, but rather the price - at $100 more than the PS4 - made the normally arduous decision for fence-sitters just that little bit easier. After stringing it out for a few months, the software giant finally caved in and offered the Xbox One sans Kinect for a price comparable to that of its major competitor, and as of October 7th, those who'd retrospectively like to buy the popular accessory will be able to.
