OtterBox Announces OtterSpot Modular, Portable Wireless Charger

OtterBox has announced a new charger and it’s certainly different to anything we’ve seen on the market before. OtterSpot is the name, and modular and portable charging is the game.

The whole charger is stackable with a 5,000mAh battery built in and support for USB-C and Qi charging. The real quirk is the ability to stack multiple batteries onto a single base to increase the power range of the charger. Everything’s circular, too, making it a nice charger to look at.

OtterBox makes a big deal of the OtterSpot’s batteries and lack of cables, just as you might expect.

Use this charging pad as your base to fast-charge Qi wireless devices and simultaneously stack multiple OtterSpot batteries. Goodbye cables and cords.

When it comes to specifications, the Qi charger is good for up to 10W of output depending on the phone that you’re using. The charger’s surface is non-slip, too, so you won’t wake up in the morning to find that your phone has vibrated its way across half of your desk.

Other tidbits include a USB A-C cable in the box and a set of LEDs that show battery capacity and current wireless charge state.

The portable charger is available right now directly from OtterBox. The base and one OtterSpot portable Qi battery are included for the base $130 setup with additional batteries available for $70 apiece. Up to three batteries can be used at a time.
