Motorola Confirms RAZR Foldable Phone Is Real And Coming Soon

After many rumors over the last few weeks, Motorola has confirmed that it is indeed working on its own foldable phone.

In an interview with Engadget, Motorola has confirmed that it is working on a foldable phone just like everyone else, and importantly, it isn’t too far away. In fact, the company claims that its unannounced foldable will arrive no later than those from the competition.

If you take that at face value, it means that we can expect Motorola’s new foldable phone to arrive at some point this year. For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is due to arrive in April, while Huawei penciled its Mate X in for a mid-2019 arrival.

No matter when it arrives, Engadget’s interview confirmed that the device will not have a full-sized screen on the outside, like other phones. Instead, it sounds likely that we could see something akin to the patent application we recently saw.

If that’s the case, an all-new RAZR with a foldable display on the inside is possible, and we can’t tell you how excited that makes us!

Motorola says that it’s working on a few things, including a display that folds twice rather than the once that we’ve become accustomed to of late. That’s an interesting approach, and if we are indeed to see a return of the RAZR, having it be some sort of foldable may just get us all interested in what Motorola is working on for the first time in quite a while.

Anything that tickles our nostalgia bone is always going to be a winner, and coupled with the latest technology, we’re left waving our credit cards in the air in anticipation.
