Leaked AirPower Photos Show Apple Watch And AirPods Charging

Apple’s AirPower project is one that has seen plenty of twists and turns. We thought that its journey had come to a close when it was canceled last year but there might be some life in the old dog yet.

We’d heard rumors that project C68 was still ongoing already, and now we’ve seen a photo of it being used, too.

With Apple’s engineers working from home there’s more opportunity than ever for leaks. That appears to be what’s happened here with Jon Prosser sharing an image that he says was provided to him by a source.

Prosser had previously said that earlier prototypes didn’t charge the Apple Watch because engineers were struggling to find a way to make it work with the way AirPower was constructed. Now, it appears that problem is one that has been fixed with an Apple Watch shown on the mat in the new image.

The image itself doesn’t actually show the watch charging, but Prosser says that it does work.

Prosser had previously said that the AirPower mat will include an Apple A11 chip to help manage the heat created by the number of coils required to allow devices to charge no matter where on the charging mat they were placed. He also suggested we could see a launch as soon as Q4 2020.

Could AirPower finally be coming? We’ll just have to wait and see!
