Jailbreak iOS 14 Using Checkra1n 0.11.0, Here’s How-To [Tutorial]

Here’s how to jailbreak iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 using the popular checkm8-based checkra1n 0.11.0 on compatible iPhone and iPad devices.

Now that Apple has released iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 to the public there are probably tons of people out there who are already eager to get the new updates jailbroken. Thankfully that process is not only possible, but fairly easy to do as well.

As ever we’d suggest making sure you have a backup of everything before you start doing any jailbreaking. Once you have that all squared away, here’s what you need to do.

Note: Checkra1n 0.11.0 currently supports:

  • Official support for iOS 12.0 – 13.7
  • Official support for iOS/tvOS 14.0 (A8(X)-A9(X) running iOS and iPadOS; all tvOS devices are supported)
  • Official support for Apple TV 4K breakout boards (Standard and Advanced)

Supported devices include:

  • iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, and SE
  • iPad 5th generation
  • iPad Air 2
  • iPad mini 4
  • iPad Pro 1st generation
  • Apple TV 4 and 4K
  • iBridge T2

Following devices aren’t currently supported but will be in a future update to checkra1n:

  • iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
  • iPad 6th and 7th generation
  • iPod touch 7
  • iPad Pro 2nd generation
  • iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X

With all that out of the way, lets see how you can use checkra1n to jailbreak iOS 14 on a compatible device:

Step 1: Head on over to the checkra1n website and download the latest version of the jailbreak tool. Point your browser to checkra.in.

Step 2: With the latest checkra1n utility downloaded, find the DMG file (it’s probably in your Downloads folder on your Dock) and drag it into your Applications folder.

Step 3: If you get an error saying that the application isn’t trusted or isn’t supported, then you’ll find a few steps below that you’ll need to follow to fix it. Otherwise, skip straight to step 4:

  • Head into the System Preferences app and find the Security & Privacy option.
  • Select “Open Anyway” followed by “Open” and enter your administrator password when prompted.
  • Try to run the Checkra1n app again and you shouldn’t have any issues.

Step 4: Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac using a Lightning cable.

Step 5: Click the Start button in the Checkra1n app and then select OK.

Step 6: Click “Next” and then follow the instructions that you see on the screen. The app will handle putting your device into DFU mode but keep in mind that the steps will vary depending on what device you are jailbreaking.

Step 7: Once Checkra1n detects that your device is in DFU mode, it will begin the jailbreak process. This will result in the iPhone or iPad going through the reboot process a few times.

Step 8: Once the process is complete, unplug the device from your machine and launch the checkra1n app on your iPhone.

Step 9: Tap Cydia and then Install Cydia to complete the process that will put the oh-so-familiar Cydia store onto your device.

And that’s all there is to it. See, we told you it wasn’t difficult!
