iPhone X Display Color Issue Being Reported On iOS 12 By Some Users

While the iOS 12 update that Apple issued to iPhones and iPads last week has gone well, on the whole, it would be very unusual for any software update of this magnitude to go live without there being some reports of problems, whether justified or not.

Today we have claims that people are starting to experience issues with their iPhone X once the iOS 12 update is applied, specifically with regards to how well their displays are performing.

According to multiple users, especially on Reddit, they have begun to notice that their screen is not displaying colors in the same was that it did before, with some reporting “slightly washed out screen, colors popping less and blacks appearing more grayed out.”

The reports continue in the same kind of vain, all suggesting that the color tones do not look to be quite the same since the iPhone X received the iOS 12 update. Many users are actually unable to explain quite what it is that they believe is wrong, simply saying that the colors now appear “off.” Others have reported that turning True Tone off appears to have helped somewhat.

Was searching to see if anyone else had this problem too. I definitely noticed that things look washed out with poor contrast. I tried turning off True Tone which made it better but I’m so used to True Tone now that I don’t know what to actually use.

We haven’t noticed any such issues either with the final iOS 12 update or the beta seeds which preceded it, but if there is indeed something amiss we would expect Apple to rectify it in a future iOS 12 update – perhaps the same one which brings back the missing Activity Awards some have reported after the update.
