About iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro & iPhone 11 Pro Max

As we know, iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro are Apple’s 2019 flagship. Yesterday, it was the next-generation of Apple’s smartphone lineup. Today, it’s the current-generation behemoth which Apple is hoping will re-energize iPhone sales and not only bump up Apple’s market share but also increase revenues. The range is broken down into three devices; the iPhone 11 (6.11-inch), the iPhone 11 Pro (5.8-inch), and the iPhone 11 Pro Max (6.5-inch). You will find the specifications below but each one of those devices comes with its own charms and will appeal to different user types.

While not much has changed design wise, the glass on the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max, now has a matte texture to it, offering a much different finish we had become accustomed to since the iPhone X and iPhone 8 / 8 Plus.

Specs

iPhone 11

CPU: Powering Apple’s latest, is the A13 Bionic chip which is a good 20% faster than last year’s A12 chip and easy on the battery life too, as per Apple.

Display: The entry level phone from Apple sports a 6.11-inch display packed in a shell which doesn’t differ from last year’s iPhone XR. Well, that is till you turn it over.

Camera: We now have two camera lenses: 12mp wide, 26mm f/1.8 lens and an ultra wide 12mp f/2.4. The ultra-wide lens also packs a 2X optical zoom. Portrait Mode has now been extended to include pets as well. Apple has also addressed the low-light photography competition by bringing in an automatic Night Mode on par with Samsung’s and Google’s implementation. On the front of the phone is a 12mp TrueDepth module which also produces a wide angle if you flip the phone into landscape orientation, and can also record in 4K 60fps, while doing Slow-mo at 120fps.

Video recording is available at 4K 60fps, and perhaps the most standout feature of this entire experience is Audio Zoom which “matches the audio to the video framing for more dynamic sound.”

Spatial audio provides an immersive surround sound experience and Dolby Atmos delivers powerful, moving audio to iPhone 11.

Face ID: Apple tells us that Face ID is now 30% faster than before and works at even greater angles now. Great news this!

IP68 Certified: The iPhone XR was IP67 rated, but the iPhone 11 takes it up a notch by being more water resistant with an incredible IP68 rating.

Colors: Purple, Green, Yellow, Black, White, and PRODUCT(RED).

iPhone 11 Pro & iPhone 11 Pro Max

CPU: Just like the iPhone 11, the Pro models pack the A13 Bionic chip making these the fastest and most efficient Apple smartphones to date.

Display: Both phones retain last year’s sizes from the iPhone XS and XS Max at 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch respectively, but what we have is an improved and more pleasing display thanks to the Super Retina XDR display.

The new Super Retina XDR display, a custom-designed OLED, provides users an immersive HDR viewing experience for movies and other high-definition video with up to 1,200 nits brightness. Super Retina XDR features wide color support with system-wide color management and True Tone to offer a more natural viewing experience.

As expected, 3D Touch is no more and has now been replaced with Haptic Touch found earlier with the iPhone XR, but is now a standard feature in the entire iPhone 11 lineup.

Camera: A first triple-camera setup from Apple, we are looking at a 12MP Ultra Wide, Wide, and Telephoto lenses here. Straight out of Apple’s specs sheet; “Ultra Wide: ƒ/2.4 aperture and 120° field of view, Wide: ƒ/1.8 aperture, Telephoto: ƒ/2.0 aperture”. Apple’s really drumming up the seamless experience the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max bring to the table when switching between the different lenses, especially when it comes to video recording, which as we mentioned earlier, is available at 4K 60fps.

The new Night Mode from Apple does things better now, much better apparently if the sample image below is anything to go by.

Like the iPhone 11, the Pro and Pro Max feature Audio Zoom as well, and while the Galaxy Note 10 may already sport such a feature, how good is Apple’s implementation, is what will really count.

Face ID: As on the iPhone 11, Face ID is now 30% faster than before on the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, working at even greater angles.

Colors: Gold, Space Gray, Silver, and a new Midnight Green.

IP68 Certified: What good is spending all that money if your phone doesn’t offer your the best IP rating for a smartphone. Well, now you have it!
