iOS 14 Missing Messages And Notifications Bug Still Persists On iPhones

If you’ve found yourself missing out on message notifications after installing iOS 14 on your iPhone, you aren’t alone. Tons of people have been reporting the same issue on their devices across social media and even Apple’s own support forums.

We’ve experienced the same issue ourselves, and now it seems to be getting worse rather than better. An issue that was initially believe to have only affected the iPhone 12 lineup, is now seemingly prevalent across any iPhone running iOS 14.

As reported earlier by various users, as well as our own experience, the issue seems to be pretty simple – users are receiving messages but not being told about them. No badges appear, and no notification is received.

Apple’s support forums include multiple reports of the issue, with some saying they’ve found temporary fixes. But nothing that lasts.

Text notifications/vibration do not work in silent mode with locked screen in iOS 14 on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. However, I get vibration/notifications on my Apple Watch 4, which is also set in silent mode.

An interesting detail is that I can make it work IF I take off my Apple Watch. Then text notifications/vibration work exactly as they should on my iPhone.

Anecdotally, we’ve noticed that we don’t receive message notifications when wearing an Apple Watch as well.

We’re running iOS 14.3 RC2 and are still seeing the issues. Whatever’s causing it, it doesn’t look like it’ll be fixed this side of Christmas and New Year.

Are you having messages that simply aren’t triggering notifications? Let us know!
