The Nitrous tweak that has recently found its way onto the BigBoss repository will be a package which a lot of jailbroken iOS users have been waiting for. Google and their Chrome browser have been receiving a lot of praise for the aesthetics and overall performance of the iOS version of the popular web browser, but unfortunately not everything is perfect in a stock installation of the app from the official App Store. Due to limitations placed on developers by Apple, Google and others are restricted as to what they can and can't achieve when building apps that are heavily web-based.
Although the Apple TV is becoming increasingly popular as time goes on, the company is still refusing to publicly acknowledge the product’s existence as a major player in their product arsenal, with Tim Cook and his executive team still referring to the set top box as a "hobby" project at every possible moment. Hobby or not, Apple TV is an extremely attractive product for millions of people and with the sales numbers going up every quarter, Apple has to start taking the product seriously sooner or later.
The last few days have provided us with not only intense speculation surrounding the possible launch dates of Apple's next-generation iPhone but also a possible scheduling for the announcement and release of a new smaller and more lightweight iPad Mini. The iPad Mini has been a long speculated product but with no real concrete details being known, it has just been put down to conjecture until this morning when a possible release date emerged.
New sources have confirmed that Apple will announce the iPhone 5 on September 12th, with a release date coming just nine days later on the 21st of the same month. It would appear that the assumption that Apple would release the next iPhone in October may have been a little off, with the news that the unannounced handset is all-but confirmed to arrive on September 21st.
Anyone who is a regular jailbreaker of any of their iOS devices will ultimately have a set of must-have tweaks and installations which always manage to make it onto their device as soon as a new jailbreak is released for iOS. Sometimes those packages are installed because they offer something fun and and at times it is because they genuinely make using Apple's mobile operating system a lot better. Those packages that fall under the category of the latter generally tend to have a much longer shelf life than other offerings in Cydia, well, until Apple natively implements them that is.
Now that the wait is finally over and Apple have released OS X Mountain Lion on the official Mac App Store for mass consumption, we can all sit back and relax safe in the knowledge that our beloved Mac machines are running the latest and most advanced operating system in the world. The initial popularity of Mountain Lion is there for all to see, with the positive App Store reviews mounting up and the general social chatter painting OS X 10.8 in a positive light it looks like Apple have a winner on their hands.
Given all of the rumors surrounding the alleged mini-iPad as of late, on top of the recent leak which shows what the next-generation iPhone may look like if alleged components prove to be true, everyone's obviously anticipating some exciting news regarding the company's mobile lineup this fall. iMore is hearing from sources close to Apple that they're planning to announce the next-generation iPhone - and highly anticipated "iPad Mini" on September 12th, with the iPhone being available for purchase come September 21st. Not even Apple themselves could have predicted the influence that the iPhone would have on the world when it was first launched in 2007. Obviously the company knew that they had created something special, but if asked to answer honestly, it is highly unlikely that anyone involved from the start would have thought it would become the iconic product that we have today. The current model iPhone, the 4S, is the fifth-generation device and although we are still a couple of months away from seeing what the technology giants have to offer us with their next iteration, the interest and demand is already unprecedented.
With just a few short months left until we expect the next iPhone to be announced, ready for an expectant public to drool over. We go through this around the same time every year, but we are right bang in the middle of a time we like to call 'silly season,' when any and all rumor has just as much chance of being absolutely true as it does being completely made up!
When it comes to packages and tweaks that find themselves at home on the jailbroken Cydia platform we tend to go through dry patches where we don't seen anything really being released that brings an awful amount of benefit to the user. This could be for a number of reasons, but one of the main driving factors behind this is the fact that Apple is making iOS more advanced with every major update thus removing the need for certain jailbreak based enhancements. Plus, Cydia is pretty much saturated with offerings meaning a lot of the good ideas have already been done.
