It was only a matter of time wasn’t it? After managing to unlock the bootloader, some hackers have now managed to get full root access on the Google Nexus S, only a few hours after its public launch.
It hasn’t even been a day since Google Nexus S hit the Best Buy’s shelves in US and it’s bootloader has already been unlocked. For those who don’t know, unlocking the bootloader allows you to go into custom recovery mode so you can install custom ROMs like Cyanogen Mod etc.
The latest and the greatest Android phone, the Google Nexus S is finally available now for purchase in US at Best Buy stores. Customers in UK will be able to purchase it starting from December 20th.
This is probably the first version of Facebook for Android that can be regarded as completely on par with the iPhone version. This is the update which most of us have been waiting for! After bringing Facebook Groups and Places feature to Android only just last month, the new Facebook version 1.5 for Android brings the much awaited Facebook Chat feature, along with Push Notifications to Android devices.
We have had our bit of Google news lately. Primarily the big one was the release of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Google Nexus S, followed by the Chrome OS a few days back. Google also announced Chrome OS netbook for free to selected people in the US and reviews of the device have already started rolling out.
The Official Google eBookstore went live a few hours back. And now the official Google Books app for Apple iOS and Android devices are already available for download.
Google today has officially taken the wraps of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Version 2.3 brings lots of new features to the Android platform. Some of these include: UI refinements for simplicity and speed, Faster, more intuitive text input, one-touch word select and copy / paste, improved power management, control over applications, and new ways of communicating, organizing (Internet calling, Near-field communications, Downloads management and camera).
Google has started sending invites for the upcoming Chrome OS event which will be held in San Francisco on December 7.
I have been complaining a lot lately about how Google is taking a lifetime to release the Android 2.3, aka Gingerbread for its users. We had reports of it coming with the release of Nexus S from Samsung last month but that was postponed for some reason.
