Another year, another new iPhone arrives from Apple, and even though we should be used to it by now, the amount of hype, rumor and speculation always seems to increase with every new release. With only five days to go until the event at the Yerba Buena Center, we have a relatively good idea of what to expect, although quite a few features still remain up in the air.
According to Fox, Apple is planning to release a refreshed batch of its iMac desktop computer in time for Christmas, and the news and entertainment giant's Clayton Morris reckons the new iMacs could launch as soon as next week. He also speculates Apple could instead drop the new iMacs range at next month's special event for the iPad Mini, but reckons they'll be available in time for the all-important holiday season.

Three days ago, after months upon months of rumors and reports, Apple sent out official invites for the media event where they will be announcing the next-gen iPhone. It seems like only yesterday when the original iPhone was announced to the world by the late Steve Jobs, a revolutionary device that was going to turn the industry on its head and be the new benchmark for what manufacturers would need to live up to. British newspaper TheTelegraph believes Apple is about to cease the sale of the iPhone 3GS when the iPhone 5 is introduced to the fray, instead retailing an 8GB version of the iPhone 4S, which is currently sold in 16, 32 and 64GB configurations.
Although Apple has now officially confirmed that there will indeed be a media event taking place on September 12th at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, we can all breathe a heavy sigh of relief and get our credit cards ready for whatever the company announces on that day. It's widely expected that Apple will introduce us to the sixth-generation iPhone, but considering the rumor that we will see up to eight new Apple products released between now and the end of October, the possibility still remains that the Cupertino giants could announce a couple of new iPods on Wednesday or even the new iPad Mini that we have all been expecting. The chances for the latter actually happening are extremely low, though.
