Apple To Release 4.5-inch iPhone In 2014, Will Feature A Polycarbonate Body, Priced At $330 [Report]

Ben Reid·March 1, 2013
Apple finally, contrary many of its earlier claims, released the smaller and cheaper iPad mini towards the close of 2012, and although it perhaps didn't hit a price point to suit those dazzled by the powerful-yet-inexpensive Nexus 7, it has enjoyed a solid first six months in the market. With that release in mind, the seemingly omni-present rumors of a cheaper, smaller iPhone have suddenly gained traction, and according to a report over at Japanese blog Macotakara, the Cupertino company has "deferred" such plans until next year.

Apple’s iPhone 6, iPhone Mini And Phablet Conceptualized [IMAGES]

Ben Reid·March 1, 2013
The iPhone 5 is now almost six months old, and such is the speed in which the smartphone market moves these days, that talk of its successor is already well underway. While we don't have much info pertaining to the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, or whatever it shall be named, the concept makers have been busily churning out their own ideas regarding which direction Apple should take. Designer Peter Zigich on his website has used his imagination to come up with his own vision of the next-gen Apple smartphone, and although based heavily on the revered design of the current iPhone 5, it is quite unlike any concept we have previously seen.

Apple Working On New Product Categories, Tim Cook Gets 99.1% Shareholder Approval Rating As CEO

Ben Reid·February 28, 2013
Apple held its shareholder's meeting at its Cupertino headquarters this morning, and from what we've gathered of the consultation, things ran pretty smoothly. The annual event allows shareholders communicate across any concerns they may have to corporate officers, take care of many aspects of corporate business (such as the re-election of the board of directors), and casting votes on proposals made. CNBC's Jon Fortt has the inside scoop, and notes that all directors were re-elected, the fruit company's accounting firm was approved, and an an advisory vote pertaining to executive compensation was passed.

New iOS 6.x Lock Screen Exploit Makes All The Stored Data Freely Available Via USB Connection [VIDEO]

Goncalo Ribeiro·February 26, 2013
If your device is on iOS iOS 6.1, you are likely aware of several issues that have plagued the operating system upon launch, including a serious security exploit that made data within an iPhone accessible to any unintended user. Another vulnerability has now been discovered which allows any user to access the internal data of the iPhone device running iOS 6.1 or 6.1.2 by simply plugging it into a computer via USB. Worse even, it is not too difficult to perform.

iPhones Are 300% More Reliable Than Samsung Smartphones, New Study Reveals

Ben Reid·February 23, 2013
A recent study carried out by the parent company of tech problem-solvers FixYa has found that Apple's iPhone is far and away the most reliable on the market, and compared with arch-rival Samsung, is a full 300% more reliable. Earlier this week, we learned the Cupertino handset was the best-selling smartphone in the world based on Q4 sales figures, but while that is a seasonal affair which often swings in favor of the company which has most recently dropped a flagship, the depth of the FixYa study makes the outcome even more damning. It took into account a total 722,558 combined problem reports, along with market share data from StatCounter, in order to obtain reliability scores; and in short, Apple excelled while competitors faltered.

Download iTunes 11.0.2 For Windows And Mac

Ben Reid·February 20, 2013
The long-awaited release of iTunes 11 ran fairly smoothly for Apple towards the close of last year, and although the completely overhauled UI does take a bit of getting used to, it would seem as though the vast majority of users have now managed to adapt. Following on from the hurried release of iTunes 11.0.1 to alleviate a bunch of teething issues back in December, Apple has just released iTunes 11.0.2 which, among a bunch of bug fixes, also adds a new Composer view, and improves playlist responses.

New iOS App Switcher Concept By The Designer Of Auxo Offers a Vastly-Improved Multitasking Experience [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·February 19, 2013
Concept ideas help us to visualize a specific new feature or piece of software or hardware, rather than just imagining, and with the faults of iOS 6 having been well-documented of late, it's no surprise that we've seen a slew of concepts purporting to improve elements of Apple's mobile OS. One area which has seen a lot of attention - particularly in the jailbreak scene - is the app switcher, and Sentry, the designer behind Auxo tweak, has come through with another alternative take on how the Cupertino company could reinvent the multitasking bar.
