CyanogenMod is one of the most popular aftermarket Android firmware, and despite some early suggestions that the all-new Galaxy S4 would throw up issues when it came to compatibility with CM, it now seems as though those reservations were a tad overstated. Google's I/O would seem as fitting a venue as any for the company to take the wraps off a significant new piece of software, and the consensus is that the search giant will do exactly that by announcing Android 4.3 at the developers conference later on this month. Hitherto, little has been established regarding Android 4.3's key implementations and enhancements, but thanks to meet-up info leaked by HTC, we now have a decent idea of what the upcoming software may feature.
Google certainly made waves in the tech world when it chose to spend a whopping $12.5 billion to acquire Motorola Mobility, but it's fair to say that the Big G has yet to really utilize this most sizable of purchases. Much speculation has pertained to a so-called "X Phone," perhaps accompanied by an "X Tablet" to match, but as yet, these reports have remained decidedly inconsequential. Shots of the X Phone enveloped in a squared-off case were leaked by evleaks a couple of days ago, and as it transpires, high-res images had already been leaked earlier this year depicting the device in all its glory.
Whenever Samsung launches or releases a new device, one of its first ports of call is to take a swipe at Apple, and with the Galaxy S4 currently making its way to numerous markets around the world, it should be of little surprise to see the U.S. arm of the Korean company deliver another not-very-devastating blow to its Cupertino rival. This latest ad, entitled 'Grad Pool Party,' sees scores of Galaxy S4 fans nonchalantly showing off some of the device's snazzy features like Air Gestures, and when the iPhone 5 users ask whether they can get in on the act, they are, of course, rebuffed. Check out the video after the break, you really don’t want to miss this!
Being both an Android and iOS user, I would count myself among the apparent few that actually enjoys both platforms in almost equal measure. Google Glass, though exciting, is not yet available to everybody, and aside from developers, creatives, journalists and competition winners, few have actually had the chance to test out the most exciting technological advance in recent times. One individual who is certainly on the outside looking in is Australian hacker Ash_Williams, but undeterred by his inability to get hold of Glass to try out for himself, he's sought to create his own version from various odds and sods.
College Humor likes to focus much of its comedy on the world of tech, and a rather entertaining new clip draws comparisons between girlfriends and iPhones. Like the video showing how a typical guy would use Google Glass, it brings modern technology into the crosshairs of common relationship issues, and the video, which is very funny indeed, can be seen after the break!
It is well documented that when a consumer buys an Apple over a similar product from another brand, they nearly always pay considerably more than that substitute product. But while shelling out over $1,000 for a MacBook Pro is a little too rich for the blood of some consumers, the amount German auctioneer Breker predicts a fully-operational Apple-I to fetch when it goes under the hammer later this month is enough to make anybody's eyes water.
SmartSilence for Android is an app that allows you to avoid the faux pas of having your device’s ringer test its vocal chords at those oh-so inconvenient times. By allowing you to schedule time periods when you’ll definitely be requiring total silence from your smartphone, you can avoid the interruption of the call or text tone that, for some reason, always seems to ring loudest when you don’t want it to at all. More details and the download link can be found right after the break.
