Apple’s Popular Silicone Accessories Could Be Going Away

While there are already rumors that Apple is getting ready to cancel leather iPhone cases and Apple Watch accessories after tomorrow’s iPhone 15 event, a new report suggests that the same fate may befall the silicone cases and accessories as well.

That’s according to a MacRumors report which claims that Apple is set to cancel accessories like the iPhone Silicone Case, Apple Watch Sport Band, and more.

The move is expected to include accessories such as the iPhone Silicone Case with MagSafe, Sport Band, Solo Loop, and AirTag Loop. The rumor comes from Apple device collector and leaker known as “Kosutami,” who has previously shared information about the iPhone 15’s braided USB-C cable, various prototypes such as the MagSafe chargers and AirPods in different color options, and more.

It’s thought hat Apple’s plans are part of a wider environmental push with new materials thought to be in the works.

So-called FineWoven bands and iPhone cases are thought to be set to take the place of existing offerings, but it remains to be seen what they will look and feel like as well as how much Apple will charge for them.

We’ll find out soon enough of course. The new iPhones are set to be announced during an event tomorrow, September 12. The Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 are also expected to be unveiled at the same event.
