Jailbreak iOS 16.6.1 On iPhone And iPad Status [Latest Update]

If you want to jailbreak iOS 16.6.1, here’s the latest update you need to know before you do anything with your iPhone’s software.

Apple has now released iOS 16.6.1 after something of a surprise drop, with this update dealing with crucial security issues. That means that we would very much suggest that installing this update would be a good idea, especially considering the fact that the Apple Wallet app is involved.

Apple says that on previous versions of iOS, “a maliciously crafted attachment may result in arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.” Another issue was also fixed in relation to images.

But what does this mean in terms of jailbreaking?

If you own an iPhone X or iPhone 8, you can use the Palera1n jailbreak once it’s updated to include support for iOS 16.6. That’s because those particular iPhones have been jailbroken at the bootrom level, which means that regardless of any efforts by Apple to fix the jailbreak exploit, it can’t be patched.

Unfortunately, however, anyone who is using a more modern device like the iPhone 14 is going to be out of luck for the time being. That might change in the future, but we can’t say if or when.

Jailbreaking isn’t as big of a deal as it previously was and most of the reasons for jailbreaking back in the day are no longer relevant as Apple adds new features as standard.

The iOS 16.6.1 update is now available for download via the Settings app on your compatible iPhone.
