Apple Watch Series 5 features, price, release date and more has been announced. Here are the details on this.
Apple’s September 10 event may have been predominantly focused on the next-generation iPhone but that’s not the sole reason that people all over the world tuned in. Many people wanted to find out exactly what Apple had in store for the future of Apple Watch, and, of course, Tim Cook’s company did not disappoint.
As is generally the case, most of the informed community were already well aware that Apple was going to make an Apple Watch Series 5 announcement at this event.
But still, it’s always nice to have that confirmed and actually get all of the details first-hand to see if the speculation was accurate. So, with that in mind, let’s dive right in at the deep end and take a look at the Apple Watch Series 5 announcement.
Features
Apple Watch Series 5 comes with a gorgeous new and long-lasting Ceramic in white and Titanium casing available in Space Black and a Natural Brushed finish, in addition to Aluminum and Stainless Steel finishes. Apple is also using the announcement and release of Apple Watch Series 5 to expand the stunning ECG functionality to additional markets, both on Series 5 and Series 4.
This release is more about the fact that Apple is releasing a brand new version rather than focusing on any wholesale changes or sweeping amends. Where Apple Watch Series 4 left off, Series 5 takes the baton and continues the development of Apple’s wearable.
Another feature is always-on Retina display, something which is a first for an Apple Watch. A simple twist off the wrist makes that dimmed display light up with colors. “Several advanced technologies work together to deliver this new feature, including the industry’s only low-temperature polysilicone and oxide display (LTPO), ultra-low power display driver, efficient power management integrated circuit and new ambient light sensor.”
A first on the Apple Watch, is the inclusion of a built-in Compass. “Customers can use the new Compass app to see heading, incline, latitude, longitude and current elevation. Users can even add one of three new Compass complications to their watch face to see direction at a glance.” There’s also an international emergency calling feature to set the watch apart from its siblings.
Price
Pricing on the Apple Watch Series 5 will start at an agreeable $399 for non-LTE aluminum 40mm Sport models and rise to as high as $1,199 for the higher-end LTE 44mm Titanium version. All models and prices below:
- 40mm: Starting at $399 | $499 for GPS + Cellular
- 44mm: Starting at $429 | $529 for GPS + Cellular
Release Date
The features and functionality are extremely important when it comes to a new model Apple Watch but consumers are also hugely concerned with price and release date. We’ve covered the price, so let’s take a look at the announced release date. Apple has announced that Apple Watch Series 5 is available for pre-ordering starting now, and will start shipping September 20.
