Apple Says Vision Pro Buyers Can Expect Hundreds Of New Apps On Launch Day

Apple’s Vision Pro AR/VR headset finally goes on sale on Friday, February 2 and as part of the big release Apple has announced that there will be more than 600 new apps ready for the headset.

They’ll all be available in the App Store while Apple’s own apps will come preinstalled.

The apps cover a variety of different categories including games, and Apple noted that the unique aspects of the Vision Pro and visionOS experience will allow apps to do things that wouldn’t be possible on a traditional display.

Vision Pro has an infinite canvas where apps can scale beyond the boundaries of a traditional display, and introduces an intuitive and powerful three-dimensional user interface that users navigate with their eyes, hands, and voice. Spatial experiences on Vision Pro can transform any room into a personal theater for sports, TV shows, and films; unlock new ways to collaborate, create, and view digital content; and transport users to stunning gameplay environments and exciting new places.

Alongside the more than 600 apps that have been built specifically for the Vision Pro, Apple confirmed that there will be more than a million iPad and iPhone apps that are compatible with the Vision Pro at launch.

Those apps will look and work like they do on iPads and iPhones, but appear alongside visionOS apps as well.

The Vision Pro starts from $3,499 for the 256GB version while 512GB and 1TB models are also offered.
