Apple AirPods 2 With Wireless Charging Announcement And Release Date Rumored Yet Again

There’s a lot of interest in whether we will see updated AirPods sooner rather than later, and a new report claims that we will indeed be able to order them this month. The report comes via Applesfera, who believe that Apple would be releasing the AirPods 2 this March 29th.

The site is citing a source who is apparently familiar with Apple’s plans, with the updated AirPods replacing the existing model before the end of March.

The source in question is based in Apple’s supply chain, as they so often are, and is using a screenshot of logistics and product stock management software” that shows the current AirPods as going end of life on. March 28th.

We reckon this is a bit of a stretch, but in the interest of crossing our fingers and hoping, we’re willing to go along with it. It is, after all, not the first time that a March 29th launch has been mentioned with Apple expected to also offer up updated iPads and even the fabled AirPower charging pad on the same day.

To that point, Apple is also said to have a media event up its sleeve for March 25th, with all of the products presumably to be announced then. However, rumors do also have that event as one that is focused on services rather than hardware, although that may to preclude the AirPods 2 announcement at least.

Ultimately, until we see Apple event invitations start to arrive we’re in the dark, and even then we won’t really know what will be announced until the day of the event. That isn’t going to stop us from hoping, though.
