27-Inch iMac Shipping Estimates Pushed To September, Suggesting 2020 iMac Launch

We’ve been hearing rumors of a newly refreshed iMac being inbound for a few weeks at this point and while we didn’t get it at WWDC as we’d hoped, there is yet more evidence pointing to its existence.

As has been spotted by numerous people already, Apple’s stock of most 27-inch iMac configurations are so dry that you’ll be waiting until September for yours to arrive.

While by no means a guarantee that Apple has something in motion such stock shortages have previously pointed to the imminent arrival of a new device.

It also backs up earlier reports that a new iMac is coming before the end of the year, although whether that referred to the 21.5-inch or 27-inch model is unknown.

On that subject, and at the time of writing at least, stocks of the smaller iMac remain unaffected with delivery available almost immediately. However, that could simply mean that those iMacs are in less demand and sell through more slowly.

If we do get a new iMac it could use Apple’s own silicon for the first time, although we do know that new Intel Macs are also being worked on as well. Apple said that its own chips will power some Macs this year, although it didn’t indicate what those will be.
