Unc0ver 3.0.0 Beta 43 iOS 12 Jailbreak Update Released, Here’s What Is New

The developer, hacker, and jailbreak creator @pwn20wnd, along with this team, has pushed out yet another pre-release version of unc0ver v3.0.0. This latest release takes the latest version of unc0ver to public beta 43 and introduces a number of under-the-hood improvements.

It remains to be seen just how many beta releases of unc0ver v3.0.0 we are going to see but given the current velocity and the historical release pattern, it’s very likely that we will breach 50 beta seeds before version 3.0.0 of the jailbreak is deemed stable and ready to push out as an official release for public consumption.

With that said, version 3.0.0 may be categorized as a “beta” but it genuinely feels like the public is using it as a stable product whilst performance improvements are being made with each release.

This latest release takes version 3.0.0 to beta number 43 and includes speed improvements, enabling certain processes on A9(X) devices, and a number of internal updates. The official changelog/release notes for this latest unc0ver beta release are as follows:

  • Fix the sandbox escape error on some devices
  • Update the APT lists cache file for repositories

Beta 43 came quickly following the release of beta 42 a day ago sporting the following improvement. Needless to say, these improvements are already reflected in the latest beta 43 release:

  • Make the machswap exploit slightly faster
  • Enable the machswap exploit on A9(X)
  • Update the APT lists cache file for repositories

It is certainly one interesting ride that the unc0ver team is taking the public on in terms of the jailbreak. Version 3.0.0 has supported the liberation of iOS 12.0 through iOS 12.1.2 for some time now but it continues to be classified as a beta as improvements are made and the team looks for ways to try and extend support for Apple’s A12X devices. It’s currently unknown when, or indeed if, that support will actually come but for the time being the unc0ver team is focusing efforts as best as it possibly can in stabilizing the jailbreak tool and ensuring that it offers the stability and experience that device owners demand.

As always, if you are already jailbroken using unc0ver, then the advice would be to download the latest updated version of the tool (v3.0.0 beta 43) and re-jailbreak to ensure that you get the best experience, especially if you have an A9X device to benefit from the speed enhancements introduced with this version.
