Thief Reportedly Hands Back Android Phone Because It Isn’t an iPhone

Stealing phones is big business unfortunately, but it seems that thieves only really want to get their hands on an iPhone. So much so, we’re told, that someone who stole an Android phone ultimately handed it back because it wasn’t an iPhone.

That’s according to a 7News report from Washington that says a man parking his car was robbed by two men who took his vehicle, made him empty his pockets, and then stole his vehicle.

But when he handed over his Android phone the robbers gave it back, saying that they only wanted an iPhone.

“They basically looked at that phone and was like ‘Oh, that’s an Android? We don’t want this. I thought it was an iPhone,'” she said.

It isn’t clear whether this is entirely how things went down of course, but it’s been suggested that thieves only really want to take iPhones because they hold their value longer and, as a result, are worth more than they are sold on. If that is indeed the case it seems that carrying around an Android phone is now safer than owning an iPhone, although none of that seems to have an impact on whether your truck will be stolen.

It’s reported that one of the robbers approached the man on foot while another was in a waiting black BMW, and that both of the thieves were armed with guns.
