After spending a great deal of time, energy and resources fighting the system, Uber has once again started offering its services in the gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas. The fast-growing transportation network company had originally started trading in Las Vegas in October of last year, but was promptly stopped in its tracks thanks to an injunction served by the Washoe County District Court. After almost a year of battling, Uber is now back in business once again in the city of lights.
Uber has just launched its first ever boat-for-hire service in Istanbul, Turkey, called UberBOAT. The new service is aimed at taking people across the Bosphorus strait connecting the two halves of the city.

Uber, the taxi company built for the Digital Age, has seen tremendous growth in the past few years, and despite a fair amount of opposition - no less from disgruntled preexisting taxi firms - continues to expand its reach and range of services. But while everything seems to be plodding along relatively smoothly just now, a new report suggests that the dark, shadowy and imposing figure of Google may be lurking in the background, and despite the Big G having pumped major investment into Uber over the past 18 months or so, could now be looking to build a directly-competing service.
Even though Uber had its fair share of naysayers from the get-go, it has established itself as a genuine threat to the ordinary cab, with folks happy to pay for the efficient, smart, high-end travel. Now, cabbies in New York City have even more reason to be worried, with the new UberX service actually coming in cheaper than your everyday NYC taxi.
PayPal may still be suffering slightly from a negative public perception of their operations, but it seems they are working hard on resolving that. The recent acquisition of Braintree shows that the company is extremely keen to make a serious impact in the ever-expanding world of mobile payments, but PayPal's current mobile developer program is attracting a fair bit of attention without the help of the Braintree customer base. Silicon Valley based transportation network company Uber has made some serious changes around their financial structure to offer PayPal as an in-app payment option to users travelling with the company.
Although the world of start-ups tends primarily to appeal to the general consumer, there are still plenty of upcoming brands targeting the affluent, well -off end of the scale. Uber, a company focusing on transportation technology, has just made a couple of huge strides with an assault on the Asian market, launching in UAE (Dubai) and India (Bangalore) contemporaneously, and in spite of its limited target audience and inherently flawed business model, looks set for a big push onto the world stage.
