Our 2014 iPad / Mac Event Coverage Starts At 10am PT Today, Check Your Local Time Zone Below

Zayed Rehman·October 16, 2014
Here we are again, with just a few hours into the run-up to the October 16th Apple event. Apple has chosen to go with a slightly low key venue this time around, holding the event at the Apple Campus in Cupertino, California. Earlier the fruit company's glitzy iPhone 6/6 Plus event in September, was held at the Flint Center that could seat 2,405 people, and was concluded with a performance by U2.

How To Speed Up iOS 8 On Your iPhone Or iPad

Zayed Rehman·October 11, 2014
Tips to speed up iOS 8 on your iPhone 4s, iPad 2, iPad mini and other devices. Pretty much akin to how every new major release of iOS slowly eats away at, at least one generation of supported devices, the iPhone 4s and older-gen iPads have fallen right into that infamous generation of 'too slow' devices. If you have upgraded your older device to iOS 8 and are really feeling that slowing down of time, there are a couple of steps you can take to speed up your device. Read on after the jump for the details.

iOS 8 Worldwide Release Time [Chart]

Paul Morris·September 17, 2014
It’s iOS 8 release day today! If you have a compatible device capable of installing and running iOS 8, then it's that time of the year again when you should be making a full backup, absorbing the release schedule in your territory and preparing yourself to enter the lottery that is progressing past Apple's authentication servers.

New Leak Reveals iPad Air 2 RAM Capacity

Ben Reid·August 21, 2014
Although the blogosphere is currently inundated with news of the next-gen iPhone 6, it's also suspected that the iPad line-up will be in receipt of its customary refresh later on this year. Aside from the more obvious matter of the improved processor -- both the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 are expected to adopt the all-new Apple 8 SoC -- both of the fruit company's flagship slates will also benefit from an improved Touch ID fingerprint sensor, in what is already stacking up as a fairly substantial hardware upgrade. Now, it has emerged that the larger of the two Apple slabs may be kitted out with 2GB of RAM, and given that the next-gen Retina mini is expected to remain at 1GB, it'll help to give the larger, more prominent model the technical edge over its smaller cousin.

How To Get Apple Products Tax-Free In U.S. [Limited Time Only]

Oliver Haslam·July 31, 2014
In the coming weeks, some parts of the United States will be offering what has become known as a 'tax-free weekend' during which select products can be bought without having to pay tax on them. That sounds like the kind of thing that we could get behind, and Apple is trying to make sure that those living in the right state are able to take advantage of the situation by, you guessed it, buying some shiny new Apple gear.

How To Use Your iPhone As A Security Camera For Free

Paul Morris·July 21, 2014
There are plenty of different ways that an individual can embrace security to make the home, office - or any other location - a lot more secure. Each possible area of entry, such as doors, windows or garages, can be fortified to ensure that it's extremely difficult for an intruder to breach. Alternatively, it's also possible to purchase and integrate security cameras that can monitor and record the property at all times. That option can sometimes prove to be a little too expensive. For those of us who have an extra iPhone lying around, the Manything home security webcam app is an entirely free-of-charge solution that lets you use a spare iPhone as a video surveillance camera.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Does 80% Of His Work On iPad, And Wants You To Do The Same

Here’s How Apple Is Going To Bring Week-Long Battery Life To iPhone, iPad

Ben Reid·July 15, 2014
Even though Apple makes every new iOS device considerably better than the last and, by some miracle, thinner and lighter than the preceding model, one common quibble that consumers have is in the waning battery life. Even though the likes of the iPhone and iPad excel in most departments, battery retention is not one of them, and as such, users are often left with a well-built, stylish, and feature-rich device that won't power up. Apparently, though, Tim Cook's company is joining forces with Intelligent Energy in a collaborative effort that may see iDevices, as well as other products like the MacBook, keep going for up to a week by embedding fuel cells into them.

Nickel In Rear Shell Of iPad May Cause Skin Rashes, Here’s How To Prevent It

Ben Reid·July 15, 2014
Apple's iPad is among the most coveted in the tablet game, and given that the Cupertino outfit is credited with forging this now-lucrative market, this is to be expected. However, while it's a well-made device - as is the case with most hardware out of Cupertino - the nickel element of its metal finish is apparently causing irritation on the skin of young children coming into contact with the slate.

Here’s Why You Should Avoid Fake iPad Chargers At All Costs

Ben Reid·May 13, 2014
To me, it seems strange that one would spend vast amounts of money on a premium product like an Apple iPad, but not pony up the money for a decent, official spare charger. Counterfeit charging accessories make big bucks for those behind them, but as a side-by-side tear-down of real vs. bootleg demonstrates, the malpractices involved can lead to fires, minor explosions, and general damage to your prized Apple slate.

OS Experience For iPad Released, Brings True Desktop-Like Multitasking To iOS [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·May 6, 2014
Early last month, jailbreak developer Evan Swick took the wraps of OS Experience, an intriguing tweak that purported to offer true, windowed multitasking on iPad akin to OS X. Now, said tweak has just been made available to the general public, and below, we've all the necessary details.
