Apple’s much anticipated event today came to a close a few hours back, but left the blogosphere abuzz in its wake with news and views on all the great tech that the Cupertino-based company showcased, including OS X Mavericks, the new iPads, a fresh MacBook Pro, the behemoth that they call Mac Pro, along with software improvements like iWork and iLife. There was so much more that the event had to offer, and here, we’re going to provide a quick run down in case you missed the action earlier. Apple cannot resist coming through with the confusing names, and now we find ourselves with the iPad 2, fifth-gen iPad Air, iPad mini, and the new iPad mini with Retina display. With so many options both old and new, allied to Apple's almost arbitrary naming patterns, it may be a rather confusing state of affairs, so here, we take a close look at the four Apple tablets including features, specs and prices.
Today, Apple will be making some pretty significant announcements at their special media event, with the iPad 5 and Retina iPad mini both expected to be showcased alongside a number of other products and services. It mightn't always be the case that Apple events are streamed online for all to see, but thankfully, those looking to follow the action in its entirety can do so via live stream.
We are now just a couple of days away form Apple's media event - an event that we all expect the company to announce at least two new iPads at. With that in mind though, it's also an event that we suspect will see one or two other products shown off, even if they aren't all quite ready to ship.
The iPhone launch is, for the most part, now over, and attentions have naturally turned to Apple's secondary product releases of the calendar year. The Mac Pro, which has already been officially announced, could be just a month away from release according to a report over at French Apple blog MacGeneration, which also states that both the Intel Haswell-packing MacBook Pro and new iPads will make their way to the market by the end of October.
It seems like it was just five minutes ago when excitement levels were being raised in preparation for the iPhone 5s/5c event at Apple's Cupertino campus. With that event now under wraps and firmly in the past, the company has moved onto the next chapter by sending out media invites for the October 22nd event that we believe will see the introduction of the next-generation range of iPads.
With the iPhone release now out of the way and many consumers enjoying one of the two new handsets on offer, attention has swiftly turned to the changes expected of the iPad range. This month, Apple is thought to be upgrading the full-size iPad as well as the iPad mini, although according to sources of Reuters, the company is going to struggle with yield of the latter's Retina display.

While it is widely assumed that the full-size Apple slate will take on a more iPad mini-esque form factor, the smaller of the two slabs is also in line for a few respectable upgrades of its own, and a new leaking of the iPad mini 2's shell via a Chinese site appears to indicate that we'll be seeing both the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and the popular gold color configuration.
In the run-up to last week's announcement of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, reports indicated that the next gen iPad could also see a September showcasing. That mightn't have materialized, but now, rumor has it that Apple's next event could be held a month from now, on October 15th. Apart from the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2, the Cupertino company has a bunch of new products to introduce, including the Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks and a Haswell-enabled MacBook Pro with Retina display, and while we don't know exactly what Apple has in store for next month, MacGeneration seems be sure that an event is happening. It seems almost certain that Apple will introduce two new iPhones on September 10th, the date set for a special media event to showcase the budget iPhone 5C and the flagship iPhone 5S. But while we continue to see leaks an hear rumors of the iPad 5 and second-gen iPad mini, there hasn't been much indication to suggest that the upgraded tablets will be launching alongside those new iPhones. However, a report from Bloomberg cites "a person familiar with the matter" in stating that the Cupertino company has “several more game changers” in the offing, which could mean that we see those new iPads at the very same event.
