Google Play Game Services For Android, iOS, Web Brings Cross Platform Multiplayer, Achievements, Leaderboards

Ben Reid·May 15, 2013
Today at I/O, Google has launched its rumored Google Play Game Services, which will finally give the Android platform a Game Center-esque experience for those looking to enjoy multiplayer competition on some of their favorite titles. Then again, if the demonstration of the multiplayer feature in action today (note: it didn't connect) is anything to go by, Android users will be hoping the hit-and-miss demonstration of the service is not representative of the eventual experiences.

Frostbite Go: Battlefield 4 Game Engine Coming To iOS And Android

Ben Reid·May 15, 2013
The Frostbite 3 engine is heavily lauded as one of the most powerful and advanced of its kind, and with the technology being the driving force behind the supreme graphics performance of Battlefield 4, it looks like a variant of the engine will soon push the boundaries of mobile gaming experience even further. EA has already indicated that the Frostbite 3 engine cannot run on the Nintendo Wii U, but the publisher remains keen to offer "true Frostbite experiences to all major mobile platforms," and with the Frostbite webpage offering details of a project called "Frostbite Go," we could certainly see some truly high-end gameplay on our smartphones and tablets.

Oliver Haslam·May 10, 2013
Carmageddon was hugely popular back in the 1990s, though perhaps due to its controversial nature more than anything else. The automobile combat game spawned many copycats, but Carmageddon still holds a special place in our hearts.

SimCity For Mac Release Date Officially Announced

Ben Reid·April 11, 2013
The SimCity beta for PC first released back in January, and although it generated much hype and anticipation for the March 5th launch, the release was, to put it mildly, a catastrophe. EA decided, against the wishes of gamers, to opt for a type of DRM protection requiring an always-on Internet connection, which left many unable to login and enjoy a title they'd been waiting on for a great length of time. Still, EA offered a free game to try and soften the blow, and with the dust settled, perhaps we can allow ourselves a wry smile at the prospect of the corresponding OS X version.

GTA 5 Official Retail Box Art Unveiled [IMAGE]

Ben Reid·April 2, 2013
As gamers continue to wait anxiously for the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 after it was delayed from Spring until September, Rockstar Games has sought to keep fans interested by releasing an image of the box art set to grace the cover of the title when it does finally release. Although the game itself should be head and shoulders above previous iterations in terms of visuals and aesthetics, the cover is every bit similar to the ones we're used to seeing from the old PlayStation 2 days. As well as giving us a glimpse of the cover, the publisher / developer also released another batch of GTA V screenshots earlier as a reminder of just how pretty the title is going to be.

Ben Reid·March 27, 2013
Rockstar has been regularly pushing out screenshots depicting the beautiful settings and aesthetics of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V, but despite initially touting a Spring release bracket, the developer and publisher of the legendary franchise left many bemused by pushing it back until September. In an attempt to re-ignite buzz surrounding the title, Rockstar has come through with yet another batch of screenshots, and believe you me, they're as awe-inspiring a batch as we've seen so far.

The title is set to release this fall for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and running on the Frostbite 3 engine, will evidently deliver a cutting-edge gaming experience.
