Samsung’s Fast T5 Portable SSD Gets New Gold And Red Colors

The hyper-popular Samsung T5 has received an update, although nothing inside the portable SSD has changed. Instead, Samsung has added two new colour options to the lineup with Rose Gold and Metallic Red joining the existing Deep Black and Alluring Blue colors that were already available.

The Samsung T5 is a very capable portable SSD with transfer speeds of up to 540MB/s thanks to its USB 3.1 Gen2-capable connections. Many Mac users take advantage of that speed and great portability as a way to expand the storage of their computers, and now two new colors are available.

Those new colors are only an option if you are picking up the 500GB or 1TB storage capacities, however. As was previously the case, 250GB drives come in Alluring Blue while the 2TB drive comes in Deep Black. We’re not entirely sure why that is the case, but it’s where we are.

Samsung brings new designer colors to the T5 Portable SSD, adding a refined Rose Gold and bold Metallic Red aluminum finish. The new colors join the original Alluring Blue and Deep Black finishes providing four options for colors and storage capacities. Rose Gold and Metallic Red are available in 500GB and 1TB capacities. The class-leading T5 delivers storage on the go for nearly any device, offering file transfers up to 4.9 times faster than external HDD.

Again, no matter which of these colors you choose, you’ll be getting the same drive inside. The same capacity and performance will be on offer, so this is purely a case of choosing a colour that best suits either your setup or your personal style.

I’d go for that gorgeous Metallic Red if I were buying again, but I’m also more than happy with the Deep Black 1TB Samsung T5 that I’ve been using for the last few months and these things come highly recommended.
