Possible Launch Window For iPad mini 5, AirPods 2, AirPower, AirPods Wireless Charging Case Revealed

It’s pretty much accepted that Apple will announce at least one updated iPad this year, with updated AirPods and potentially even the fabled AirPower charging mat on the way as well. What we don’t yet know is timing, although the smart money is on a March special event.

That is exactly what we can expect, according to Greek tech news site iphonehellas.gr. That name is one that has been around for years, and has been known to get things right in the past.

According to the report, which cites “exclusive information” from what is named as “a reliable source through Apple’s production chain in China,” Apple will start accepting pre-orders for new iPads, AirPods 2, and AirPower on Friday, March 22nd. Store sales and shipping will apparently happen the following Friday, March 29th.

A lot of this makes sense, and the same author posting to Slashleaks claims that March 11th through March 20th is a window during which we should expect some sort of Apple event to show off the new releases.

To counter at least the AirPods 2 claims, leaker OnLeaks has tweeted to say that the updated earbuds won’t go on sale until the second half of this year. However, the wireless charging case we have been expecting will go on sale before then, with standard AirPods in the box.

Some #AirPods2 details I got from a new and yet unconfirmed but seemingly reliable source. Thus, I can’t vouch these at 100%…

– New wireless charging #AirPods Case to be launched soon BUT shipped with current AirPods

– Brand new AirPods + new color(s) likely unveiled this fall

That all feels rather odd to us, and we can’t imagine Apple wanting to start a whole new AirPods SKU ahead of releasing updated AirPods later in the year. We’ll have to wait and see how that pans out.
